Highlights

  • Nobody at the meetup thought Bitcoin replacing the US Dollar was a good idea.
  • The people who came to a Web3 Decentralized Social Media don't have an identity on any Web3 adjacent or even Fediverse protocols.
  • Many of the people attended don't care about Web3 social media because, "That is not where the people are"
  • One member mentioned Isn't blockchain a technology looking for a problem, and I agreed but made sure to point out that the original mission of the Bitcoin Whitepaper for P2P digital cash has come true, this concept needs to be explored further
  • One member expressed that they want a single medium for social media syndication, for example post on X have it repost on Threads, Nostr, and Mastodon. This is something that can actually be built by us.
  • The solution to scaling Web3 Decentralized Social Media is to create a In Group that self selects to be part of a community of like minded AND CAPABLE people. Normies, sometimes refered to as NPC's, only respond to incentives such as money, prestige, and objectively better products that make their lives better. Just read this Steve Jobs quote,

"Some people say, 'Give the customers what they want.' But that's not my approach. Our job is to figure out what they're going to want before they do. I think Henry Ford once said, 'If I'd asked customers what they wanted, they would have told me, "A faster horse!"' People don't know what they want until you show it to them. That's why I never rely on market research. Our task is to read things that are not yet on the page."

  • I could have messaged a bunch of people, and conversed with the attendees asking them the questions I asked the audience, listed above, to workshop the material
  • I provided a definition of Federalism but didn't bother to example to the Web3 Folks what the Fediverse is and why it is relevant to Web3
  • I need slides with Pictures, I should produce a little research note on presentations via searching for slide decks and watching my favorite presentations on Youtube
