IFS - Internal Family Systems
The goal of IFS is to unburden our parts, explore their interactions, and harmonize them like players on a team. The self is capable of seeing these separate personality parts. The foundation self leads, mediates, supports the internal cast of characters.
Patterns of the personality
- Exile
- Manager, deal with the exile parts
- Firefighter, Manager but they do so in a impulsive and destructive in dealing with it
There are three types of apps that run on the mind body complex
- Apps that try and prevent suffering and pain
- Worry excessively about keeping something bad from happening
- Parts that say quit to avoid conflict or embarrassment
- Stay in bed all day to avoid painful experiences such as failure
- Apps that react to suffering and pain
- React with rage when someone is hurtful to us
- Addictive behavior to sooth the pain
- Apps that cary that suffering and pain
- Flashbacks
- Nightmare
- Emotional Pain
IFS is the ability to press the home button to get out of the apps when they take over our consciousness.
